The online fitness instructor and personal training course is made up of 10 units covering a range of topics such as principles of exercise, fitness and health, instructing gym based exercise, anatomy and physiology for exercise, programming personal training with clients and delivering personal training sessions.
Whilst you don’t need a formal work placement you will need to have access to a gym and gym equipment to satisfy certain practical aspects of this course. To successfully complete these practical aspects you will need to demonstrate competence working with a number of participants (min 2) on nutrition, goal planning, exercise preparation/instruction & adaption as well as providing records and audio-visual evidence.
To do this, access to a gym or fitness setting and the supervision of a qualified instructor will be necessary. This is to meet health and safety requirements as well as witness your work.The fitness industry is an exciting and expanding industry and there is a high rate of employment within the industry with currently more than 6,000 fitness centres located all across the UK.
